My name is Juli Dewar, and I am the "Knitiot" designer. I've been knitting and drawing most of my life. My mother taught me to knit when I was 8 years old. I do remember my very first knitting project...I knitted a scarf on a pair of red plastic #13 needles...my mom still has those needles in her basement! I'm pretty sure that I never finished that scarf.
I picked up my needles (not the red ones) off and on over the years--during college, when I had my children, and most recently on a visit home. My mother and I went to the local yarn shop. I picked out some really fun and funky yarn, some giant needles, and then I "went to town" knitting a scarf for my niece. For some reason, things really clicked for me...I finally had the patience to sit, knit, and actually finish a project! Pretty soon, I could even read and understand patterns too...I've made ponchos, hats, leg warmers, felted bags and more!
I was knitting all of the time...in carpool line, in meetings, standing in line to vote, in bed at night, while waiting for dinner to cook...I kept a project with me at all times so that if I had a few minutes I could KNIT! (I tried while driving, but that was too dangerous.) I'm completely hooked on knitting and I'm a yarn-junkie too!
This happened two years ago and none of my friends were knitting, but don't worry, they do NOW! I joked about "addicting" friends to my yarn habit, and told them that I was a "yarn-o-holic". We talked about creating a new group called "K.A.", that's Knitters Anonymous. I began calling myself a "knit-iot" because I was crazy about knitting! These little knitting "sayings" were running around my brain and I kept thinking of more and more. I tried to find some t-shirts with funny sayings about knitting and I didn't find very many. Having owned a t-shirt business in the past, I thought that I would design some of my own....AND HERE THEY ARE...I hope that you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them!
Happy Knitting~
